Instead of showing a few cuts & scratches on Christ I decided to make his skin appear to be progressively more flayed. When picking himself up this time I imagined the rubbery legs of near total exhaustion getting to him. So he must lift himself by the arms. His work shift has slipped down during his fall. One soldier sits on his haunches, the other has his arms raised to swing down again with the whip as Christ tries to stand looking off into the distance.
